Feedback from Group Sessions
Carers from the Emotional Wellbeing session said:
“The tone and manner of Teresa was very welcoming & inclusive”.
“Well structured and meaningful”
“Very grateful for being allowed to partake, Thanks”.
“What was useful was being able to speak openly and discuss my views with others in the group”.
One particular carer felt the most useful part of the session was: “Acceptance of things I cannot change. Forgiveness for those who fail to understand”.
Overall the session was a good dose of medicine that carers really needed. The session enabled them to have the space to actually ‘care’ for themselves and each other by working through their own stresses and sharing good coping strategies.
The good dynamics within the group encouraged mutual support and “openness”.

In 2010, Teresa organised a series of successful training sessions for a group of Hackney parents/carers of children with disabilities who wanted to explore their lives as carers in a supportive group atmosphere.
Teresa skilfully created a safe space where parents could share their experiences and learn from each other. Sessions were well planned and Teresa coped admirably and flexibly with challenges typical of this client group--late arrivals, last-minute venue changes, differences of opinion and the difficulties of communication in your second or third language.
I would be keen to work with Teresa again and am happy to act as a referee to any groups interested in employing her services as a trainer.

Teresa's session on emotional well being for parents who have children with additional needs was very informative. Her style was very informal and engaging. Many parents enjoyed the interaction and discussions that followed. Parent participation was evident throughout the session and all parents were given enough time to think about the activities and were allowed their own space to decide what was best for them. This was such a successful, enjoyable and positive session which was greatly appreciated by parents who attended.

“Teresa Kain delivered a session on Emotional Wellbeing to a group of carers who had not taken the opportunity before to address their own support needs.
She was able to do this with empathy, and managed to both involve and challenge them to take some time out to give priority to their own feelings.
Teresa’s flexible approach was adaptable enough to encourage the carers to express themselves in a way in which they were not used to but managed to keep the session anchored to the subject at hand.”
